Finch, who top-scored with 74 off 48 balls for Australia, appears to be in doubt for
Sunday’s dead-rubber third game at the SCG.
Another ‘casualty’ of the game was Test spinner Nathan Lyon, who made his T20 International
debut and was hit for 15 off his first over before being taken out of the attack.
Chasing 185 for victory, Australia lost 5-30 after being 0-94. The home side made 8-157.
Finch’s 48-ball knock included eight fours and two sixes.
Australia all-rounder Shane Watson later confirmed Finch had injured his hamstring.
“Aaron unfortunately is being assessed at the moment,” Watson said. “He has definitely done
some form of damage to his hamstring.
With a free hit to come next ball, Sharma made the most of it and slogged a six over mid-
Kohli, who top-scored with an unbeaten 90 in India’s win in game one of the series in
Adelaide on Tuesday, dominated a 46-run stand for the second wicket with Sharma after
Dhawan fell in the 11th over.
Sharma was run out after Kohli slipped attempting a second run with the score on 143, and
MS Dhoni fell in the final over after smashing a quick 14.
Australia had made six changes at the selection table for Friday night’s game.
Steve Smith, David Warner (both rested), Travis Head, Kane Richardson, Shaun Tait and
leggie Cameron Boyce were replaced by Maxwell, Marsh, John Hastings and debutants Lyon,
Andrew Tye and Scott Boland.
Boland (0-30) and Tye (1-28) looked good in patches and held their nerve against India’s
run onslaught.
Former Test opener Chris Rogers was critical of Australia’s decision to make so many
changes, saying it looked like a “lottery”.
Melbourne Stars’ Big Bash League captain David Hussey added on ABC Radio: “I don’t think
the Australian selectors know which is the best team.
