Telenor Norway to Cut 170 Jobs to re-sort out its broadband and innovation divisions

 

Telenor Group reported that it will pull back 170 employments in Norway keeping in mind the end goal to re-compose its broadband and innovation divisions. This move will help in digitization and developing client needs that are changing the way the organization works. Berit Svendsen, EVP and CEO of Telenor Norway said that this move is extreme yet critical. Since this choice is the piece of organization’s digitization endeavors. She stated,

 

“Competition in our markets is harder than ever, and if we are to maintain competitiveness in the future, such changes are crucial. We are working to establish new competencies in the company to meet the rapid technological development,”

The changes will implement from 1 April.

The company also said those who will leave their job will be made redundant and offered severance packages. Svendsen added


“It’s hard to make changes that mean good colleagues will lose their jobs. Our main priority going forward is to ensure an orderly process, with useful information to our employees who will be affected.”

 

The company has 3,900 employees in 24 offices across Norway. Under this plan, all offices will remain open.

Recently, Google has announced its partnership with Telenor to launch an advance messaging service, Rich Communication Service (RCS). RCS Messaging service will launch in different Countries of Europe and Asia. Initially, the service will be available for Android users only.

Those Telenor subscribers who already have the Messenger app on their phone will automatically get access to RCS services through an app update. For those subscribers who don’t have the app can install the Messenger app from the Google Play store
